Chiropractic More Cost Effective than Physical Therapy for Low Back Pain

Only in the U.S., over $80 billion are directly and indirectly spent in the treatment of LBP, of which $7.4 to $28 billion constitute the cost of loss-of-work, and $26 billion constitute the cost related to pharmacologic, non-pharmacologic, and therapies. (Gore M et al. 2012)
Less Visits and Better Outcomes for Chiropractic vs PT Patients
Overall number of visits within six months for the PT group was 20 percent higher than for the chiropractic group. After the six-months follow-up, the number of sick leave days for the chiropractic and PT group dropped by 48 percent and 46 percent, respectively. (Skargren EI et al. 1997)
Chiropractic Care More Cost Effective
The findings showed that for the six months of treatment, the mean cost of chiropractic was 410.89. The findings also showed that the mean cost of physiotherapy was 459.45 for the same treatment duration. (Khodakarami M 2020)
Both Chiropractic and PT More Effective Than Standard Medical Treatment
Chiropractic care and PT are shown to be the superior non-pharmacologic strategies for treating LBP, when compared to other non-pharmacologic treatments. (Synnott A et al. 2015)

Habitually Low Magnesium Intake and Illness Risk
Hypertension and Cardiovascular Disease
Over an average of 12 years of follow-up, individuals in the highest quartile of the normal physiologic range of serum magnesium (at least 0.88 mmol/L) had a 38% reduced risk of sudden cardiac death compared with individuals in the lowest quartile. (Peacock JM et al., 2010)
Type 2 diabetes
A significant inverse association between magnesium intake from food and risk of type 2 diabetes; the relative risk reduction was 23% when the highest to lowest intakes were compared. (Schulze MB et al., 2007)
Osteoporosis
For example, one short-term study found that 290 mg/day elemental magnesium (as magnesium citrate) for 30 days in 20 postmenopausal women with osteoporosis suppressed bone turnover compared with placebo, suggesting that bone loss decreased. (Aydin H et al., 2010)
Migraine Headaches
Magnesium deficiency is related to factors that promote headaches, including neurotransmitter release and vasoconstriction. People who experience migraine headaches have lower levels of serum and tissue magnesium than those who do not. (Sun-Edelstein C & Mauskop A., 2009)
